Privacy policy
Last updated 15 October 2026
dotmap is operated by Darthwares. This policy describes the information used to provide dotmap.ai.
Information we collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile image, and a Google account identifier. We do not receive your Google password. We also process website URLs you submit, audit results, account activity, and technical information needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use it
We use this information to sign you in, save and display your audits, provide monitoring and alerts you request, maintain the service, and investigate abuse or errors. We use necessary cookies to keep you signed in. With your consent, we also use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used; it sets its own cookies and sends usage data, such as pages viewed and approximate location, to Google. Google Analytics does not load until you accept it in the cookie notice, and you can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
Audit and report data
An audit processes the URL you enter and the public pages the crawler can reach. The resulting report can include page titles, metadata, extracted text, scores, issues and the URLs found during the crawl. If you sign in, reports can be associated with your account so you can compare runs over time. A shareable report URL is accessible to people who receive it; do not share one if it contains information you would not want others to see. The home page shows recent audit scores with their grade and page count, without the site or who ran it. If you are signed in and turn on “Show on dotmap’s home page” for an audit, it also shows that site to visitors, and your first name to visitors who are signed in; it is off unless you turn it on, and turning it off removes them.
Service providers
Google provides account sign-in. Hosting, database, and evaluation providers process information needed to run the service. Submitted website content may be sent to evaluation services to generate audit results. We do not sell your personal information.
Monitoring and notifications
If you enable monitoring, the service uses saved audit history to compare page-level changes and may send notifications through the destination you configure. A notification can identify the affected site, URL and score change. You can review monitoring settings in your account; monitoring is optional and does not change what a search engine sees.
Retention and choices
We retain account and audit data while it is needed to provide the service or meet legal and security obligations. You can contact us to request access to or deletion of your account data. You can also revoke dotmap’s Google account access in your Google account settings.
What this policy does not cover
dotmap audits websites you submit, but those websites have their own operators and privacy practices. Following a link from a report or research article takes you to that site under its policies. This page describes dotmap's processing; it is not a statement about how a third-party site handles visitors or their data.
